POOLWITCHA SELF-PORTRAIT SERIES THAT RESIDES IN THE LIMINAL, 2019
ROLE: ARTIST
This series explores the complexities of bodily autonomy and altered identity through the lens of objectification and fetishization. It is an investigation into shame dynamics, threatened bodily autonomy and transmutation through othering oneself and reimagining one’s identity.
Poolwitch delves into the power dynamics that shape physical autonomy and outside consumption of ones body and image. Using the artist’s own body as the focal point, the images offer an altered identity…it’s artifice is the protection it provides. using external exhibitionism as a modality of defiance.
incorporating elements of fetishism, kink and horror as tools to subvert the hetero-normative sexualization of the male gaze, it encourages a dialogue about self-possession and the liberation of the body by challenging traditional narratives of shame and sexualization.
The POOLWITCH Series has been shown at the American Grotesque exhibition in And The POOLWITCH event and exhibition at the Stockroom Gallery in 2019.
